I know, quite a mouthful but in the words of Big Ed “Let’s get to work”.
With all the news out with the selection of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney’s running mate my favorite so far is definitely by Jennifer Benderry of the Huffington Post. In her article “Paul Ryan Only Passed 2 Bills Into Law In More Than A Decade” she points out
“He’s been in Congress for nearly 13 years, but Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has only seen two of his bills pass into law during that time.”
So unless renaming a post office in your district and changing how we tax archers on their arrows Mr. Ryan hasn’t accomplished all that much. Besides earning a taxpayers income at little over three times the median of the taxpayers of Wisconsin, a federal pension and health benefits that if affordable for all would delight the average American family.
Sounds like the Washington insider that starts off as a staffer and becomes a Congressman. I thought these type were anathema to the tea party message. Government has created the only jobs that adult Paul Ryan has worked. My personal favorite is how with social security death benefits Government helped pay for his education. Reminds me of a “you didn’t build that” career in the making.
We all know there are exceptions to the rules. Like a fiscal conservative voting to fund two wars, Medicare part D, tarp, to save Detroit, No Child Left Behind, the stimulus (more of his record courtesy of NH Tea Party
http://bedford-nh.patch.com/articles/paul-ryan-is-no-ron-paul) A Liberal like me could never put it as wonderfully as Ms. Jane Aitken, founder of the New Hampshire Tea Party Coalition:
“many see it as unimpressive, and even premature and just another indication of a desperate move to distract from the idea that the “presumptive nominee” has in truth, been fighting for his political life”
I guess Paul Ryan, like Mitt Romney is a born again conservative and their compromising ways have been abandoned since they would no longer get him elected in that party.
The lesson of how to adapt to an ever rightward tilt of your party was one not learned by former Speaker Gingrich when he was lambasted on the primary trail when referring to the ever unpopular Ryan Budget as “Right Wing
social engineering”.
The Party that the Romney/Ryan ticket wants to embrace is one that embraces the idolatry of the marketplace, deflects the debt creation policies of George Bush onto President Obama and one that changes their tune based on the newest fear of the base.
Paul Ryan is the warrior who will protect the doubled profits on doubled profits of the Koch Brothers. The Ryan Budget and the ideology he touts is the snake in the Middle Class garden. Even Newt Gingrich in a rare moment of clarity saw that. I for one pray the American people will be able to see that these two vain banes to the American Dream for the wolves they are.
